autumn emotion

The verses above belong to one of the most talented Romanian writer, Nichita Stanescu who molded words with love and tragedy. The poem is called "Autumn emotion" and it's one of my favorite love poems ever!! The song that has been created afterwards belongs to Nicu Alifantis...it says something like this

"Autumn came so please cover my heart with the
Tree shade—or yours so it won’t wither.
I fear that perhaps I won’t see you sometimes
That I'’ll grow sharp wings up to the skies
That you’ll hide within a foreign eye...
Which will close with a bitter good-bye.
And then I go near the rocks and shut up.
Take the words and drown them in the sea.
I whistle the moon and rise it and turn it
Into a big love."

The translation is relative and I think it can't touch your heart as the original poem in Romanian.

It has passed a month or so since I've been trying to write this post and in the meantime winter came ;o) however I didn't forget that beautiful November day, as while walking along with gorgeous Vio this song was keep coming through my head...I would listen it again and again. I'll always remember that day and I'm sure she will keep it in her heart too, I think it somehow signed a milestone in her life. She's a special girl, spontaneous and creative. The whether was amazing as you can see in my photos so I couldn't ask for more that day as you can tell from my shots below

a typical day in Campo di Fiori

I've recently met Andrea and Colin a wonderful couple who has lived in Rome for a couple of years and now decided to leave and start a new life in Nicaragua...I really admire their courage and enthusiasm. We walked together (their friendly nice dog has joined us too) through their characteristic neighbour in the heart of the "eternal city". We hit some of the places they liked to hang out... I'm sure they'll miss some of Roman habits ;o) Isn't Andrea's smile so charming?
Wish you best of good luck guys with your new projects and hope to see you on the beautiful Nicaraguan beach some day...

A different city... snowy Rome part 2

As I was writing in my previous post, Rome has much surprised me with its new appearance while covered by snow. Here below are a few shots taken in the city centre while I was walking and enjoying the view. It was priceless to see all those motorini under a white mantle or the excitiment of the nun who has taken a photo with a snowman in front th St.Peter Basilic.

Snowy Rome

The eternal city has usually mild and pleasant winters, a very different clime from the one I was used in Romania. It was strange to me to rarely have under zero Celsius degree during the months of January or February but I guess that's why they call it "Mediterranean" right? During my 8 past winters I've spent in Rome, I really enjoyed these sunny and nice winter months, however I must admit I sometimes miss our snowy freezing cold winters... Btw, I have posted some winter photos on this blog that I've taken last year while in Romania.

This year is different. We are having snow in Rome....HURRAYYYY! And it hasn't been just snowfall that would melt in a few hours like last year, but a real one. It snowed last weekend for a couple of days and this weekend too. Rome and Roman people are not prepared for these events though, but this is another story ;o))

I was so happy when waking up in the morning and looking out the window to find this big surprise just like when I was a child... a surreal view that took my my breath away: cars, buildings, trees and streets had a thick white mantle, I could perceive an absolute silence and nobody was passing on the street. I couldn't help myself not to go out and take my camera with me. Here below there are some shots taken "sotto casa" in my neighbourhood and in the pinewood park up the hill where you can admire the city and that it's walking distance from where I live.

Please enjoy them...more photos to come from the city center ;o)
